A 904L Nylok Nut also known as nylon insert lock nut, polymer insert lock nut or elastic stop nut (see locking nuts), is a sort of nut that incorporates a nylon collar insert. 904L Nylok Nuts are also called as "Nylok" or "Nylock".
The plastic addition is put toward the end of the nut and its internal diameter is marginally smaller than major diameter of the screw. The insert deforms flexibly over the thread of the screw, however the threads are not cut into the nylon. The nylon embed locks the nut by applying a compressive power against the screw.
